Editor’s Note: The following is a direct statement from Kenny Jin, who is running as a write-in candidate for the Jericho Board of Education. It has been published here in full, without edits, to inform the public and provide access to candidate messaging.
Dear Jericho Neighbors and Friends,
Hello!
My name is Kenny Jin. Together with my wife and our daughter, who is currently a fifth grader at Cantiague Elementary School, I am proud to call Jericho our home.
As a parent who cares deeply about education, I have decided to run as a write-in candidate for this year’s Board of Education (BOE) election.
I am writing to share with you my reasons for running and to sincerely ask for your support.
Why am I running?
Over the past few years, many Jericho residents have noticed a troubling pattern — critical decisions are being made for us, not with us. From the homeless shelter plan near Cantiague to the regionalization proposal and the rushed attempt to rename Cantiague Elementary effort, parents and community members have had to push back just to be heard. Even this year’s Board of Education election raised concerns, as the long-time board president quietly stepped aside just before the filing deadline, allowing a new candidate to run unopposed—without a true opportunity for community discussion or choice. We deserve a Board of Education that doesn’t just react to backlash, but proactively invites our voices from the very beginning.
My Background:
As a seasoned professional in the finance and technology sectors, I specialize in optimizing resources through data-driven analysis and transparent management.
At the same time, as a parent, I understand that education is not just about numbers — it’s about nurturing every child’s growth and future.
My Commitment:
Transparent decision-making — Advocate for quarterly financial reports to ensure every tax dollar is clearly accounted for.
Parent involvement — Require open public hearings before any major policy changes.
Academic focus — Support innovative teaching, and thoughtfully introduce AI courses and tools to empower students for the future.
Why do we need your support?
After the current BOE President unexpectedly withdrew on the deadline day for candidate registration, only one candidate— remains on the ballot this year.
To break this “uncontested election” and ensure that parents have a real choice, we must act by casting a write-in vote!

Let’s Move Forward Together
I firmly believe that the Board of Education should serve all families, not special interest groups.
